City of Destination

Hi

Hey,

Same situation for me. City of destination on COPR is Vancouver, however I plan to land first in Windsor for a couple of months since I have friends there who can help me get settled in.
Appreciate any advice on this. Is it acceptable ? Would the immigration officer cause any trouble because of this ?

1. As long as you weren't selected under a PNP program, your destination city doesn't matter unless you intend to reside in Quebec and don't have a CSQ

Hi

1. Oct 27/15
2. Counting days starts from Oct/27th.
3. Just wait, you should receive you card some time in April (Actually maybe slightly quicker as times have dropped, as no cards were produced in Oct/November during the system and card upgrade)

Hi

If you want to pursue this and have any chance of success, I would very strongly recommend you hire a good immigration lawyer with experience in these types of appeals. You should budget $5K+ for these services. Good luck.

1. Two things that the OPS should keep in mind, it doesn't matter if they didn't know where the child was, they knew they had a child, so there is no chance in an appeal of overcoming 179. Also they say the child was ADOPTED, so the child is no longer part of their family.

PRC Renewal - Which Passport do we use?

PMM
Hi

My family PRC will expire in Aug 2016, while our passports which we used for the immigration process including the landing will expire in July 2016.
My question is that after renewing passport , we will apply to renew PRC cards ,which passport should be used to renew PRC and should we expect problem due to that .

Thanks

1. You don't need a passport to renew your PR card, although if you have one you send copies of your current valid one. PR cards aren't tied to a passport.
2. You should include copies of your old passport as well as your new one, it will save time if IRCC questions residency obligation. Ensure that any foreign stamps are translated.

Rectification on Landing Paper

Hi

Hello,

I would like to apply for the Canadian Citizenship this year (i have 4 years living in Canada) and one of the documents they ask for it is the Record of landing, Right?

The Record of landing has as a Given Names: Rita Chiquinqui but my middle name is incompleted because it is CHIQUINQUIRA. They missed the "ra" at the end.

My question is if my middle name is too long and the form does not have enough space or they really made a mistake. How can I know that?

All my backhome documents have RITA CHIQUINQUIRA as a given names which I used to apply for the Record of landing (Permanent Resident).

Please could help me with that situation

Thank you in advance

Rita

1. You middle name was too long to fit on the card, so it was truncated. The CGMS contains your complete name, so when apply for citizenship, you use your complete middle name in the application.

Where can I ask about the status of my PR Card?

Hi

I applied for my PR card renewal sometime before 2015 Christmas. I mailed (registered) it to Case Processing Centre, PO Box 10020 Sydney, NS V1P 7C1. By the way, I live in Vancouverm BC. As of today I am looking forward receiving my renewed PR card before I will travel on April 7th. I check the CIC website regarding its renewal but I was not recognized 3 times today. Any inputs for where and what number to call. I appreciate it very much.

1. Because it is not in the system probably, they are working on applications submitted 25/09/15, so I don't think that you will have it by April.
2. The number you want is on the back of your existing card.
3. Contact no. 18002422100

Eligiblity for Permanent Resident Travel Document

PMM
Hi

Hi,
I am Sudipta (Indian citizen) currently residing in Canada and waiting for my PR card(this a new PR card and I have completed my landing formalities) to arrive.

Due to some personal reason I need to visit India for 3 weeks. As of now I have stayed in Canada for almost 3.5 years in work permit. Today I came to know that as I am still waiting for my PR card, to re-enter Canada from India , I will require Permanent Resident Travel Document. It will be really helpful if you let me know the following?

• Am I eligible to get a Permanent Resident Travel Document?
• Normally what is the ETA to get the document( as I will stay in India only for 3 weeks, if the ETA is more , I might extend my stay).

Note: I do have a full time job in Canada and on returning back to Canada, I will continue working on the same job.

1. Yes, you are eligible.
2. It takes about 10 days, if there no doubts that you are in compliance with your Residency obligations.

1. No, you have to wait until you have the 2 years residency on the date you apply for renewal.

Hi

I would like to know what are the rights of children to claim PR status if they have not complied with the residency requirements because their parents went to India and did not came back in last 5 years, the child is now 19, can he reclaim his PR status and what he needs to do

1. He would have to apply for a PR Travel Document in India, on Humanitarian & Compassionate Grounds. In that he was removed from Canada as a minor and that he was apply to return at the first available opportunity.

Sponsorship Application of Dependent child

Hi

Hello,

We ( Myself, Wife and Daughter) are PR`s and done our first landing in 2014 got our PR.

My son born after we got PR outside Canada. We decided to settle permanently and living in Canada since Sep-15.

We bought our one-year-old son on TRV along with us and applied PR for him in Oct-15. CIC Mississauga office approved the sponsorship and forwarded his PR application to New Delhi office in Dec-15. Even upfront medicals also forwarded to New Delhi office.

Question No 1: Since my son in on TRV, do I require to apply extension of TRV

Question No 2: Generally how long does it takes to process PR for infants.

Please advice

Thanks
GANDHI

1. It appears that you are confusing a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) which only allows him to enter Canada, with a Visitor record, which allows him to remain in Canada. So it depends at the Port of Entry how long he was allowed to remain. He should have been issued either a document which outlines how long he can stay or just a stamp was placed in the passport. If it was a stamp with no writing underneath, then he was admitted for 6 months.
2. If he was admitted for 6 months in October, you have to apply for an extension of his visitor permit for him to remain legally.
3. A minor under, no criminal records check, no background check, so probably 6 months or so overseas.

Am I still a Permanent Resident?

HI

My family and I got our permanent residency cards in 2007 and it expired in 2012. We did not meet the requirement of staying in Canada for 2 years and we are currently not in Canada. My question is, I am now 18 years old and I want to return to Canada when I am 19 to go university and also live and settle there. Am I still a permanent resident although my card expired 4 years ago? What steps do I need to take a get renew my permanent residency card and return to Canada to complete my 2 years.

1. You are still a PR although you haven't met your RO. So you would have to apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document under Humanitarian and Compassionate Grounds. These H.& C grounds would be that you were removed by your parents from Canada as a minor and you are now applying to return at the first opportunity as an adult.
2. The longer you leave it to apply after the age of 18/19 the less chance of being successful.
