Travel abroad during Spousal Sponsorship

Hi

Hello,

I am aware of the requirements for Canadian citizens.

My question is regarding permanent residents who sponsor a spouse outland?

May I visit my spouse abroad during the process for a month or so?

What is in fact the definition of residing in Canada and going on holiday abroad?

Thank you!

1. As long as you go for a month or less, you should be fine. But I wouldn't go for any longer.

Hi

Hello, I am on work permit residing in Canada. I wanted my mother to visit me for my graduation ceremony. She previously had visiting visa-multiple entry which was issued for 3 months only & expired on november 30th 2015. But due to some personal reasons she couldnt make her visit last time to Canada. Now if she needs a visiting visa should she reapply? or extend? how it works? Please help me...
Thank you

Anupama

1. She has to apply for a new TRV. Same process as when she got the first one.

Hi

I guess what I'm asking is...Would this even be considered "misrepresentation" since I already told them about my Exclusion in the application ...seems highly unlikely.. But you never know

1. No, you are fine.

Can we Revoke his PR?

Hi

My husband sponsored his son from Jamaica and he came to Canada last summer and is now a PR. Life has been a disaster, he was misbehaving continuously, fighting at school, stealing and just not conforming to our rules. We ended up sending him back to Jamaica last month to his mother. Is there any way we can terminate his sponsorship agreement? Although we kept his PR card in our possession, his mom is saying she will just put him on a plane back to Canada to live with her aunt or worse, instruct him to take a cab to our doorstep. Would she be able to somehow apply for and obtain the emergency travel document that could allow him back without his actual PR card? Would my husband be obligated to keep him?

1. No, you can't terminate his PR status. Your sponsorship obligations runs until he is 22.
2. Yes, his mother could apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document for him to return to Canada.

Short Landing: Bank statement as POF

PMM
Hi

Hello all,

I have just been approved of a PR visa but unfortunately it expires on 11th April, which gives me very less time to immigrate.

However I have made my plans for a "short landing" at Toronto between 6th-10th April.

My questions:-

1) I do not want to carry the full funds on me (12,200 CAD). Since I am in Toronto for a short duration, will it make sense to explain to the officer that I only have limited cash and my debit/credit cards on me since I do not intend to immediately live in Canada.

2) If the above "short landing" situation is acceptable, perhaps I can support my case with my current offer letter showing terms of employment and notice period? (in turn showing my intent to fully migrate in the near future)

3) Can I can show the officer my recent Fixed deposit & savings receipts amounting to 12,000 CAD.(bank statements) I can arrange to have these funds trasfered when I actually need them...

Is this acceptable? Or must I make alternatives?

Thank you in advance,

Kishore

1. The bank statement showing sufficient cash savings is fine for proof of funds.

Citizenship Application - Canadian Addresses

Hi

Hi,

Citizenship Application Question 6E - addresses

Do you have put all addresses including those where you lived only temporary for few months or only the addresses where you officially changed your address in all government IDs and docs?

I lived in 6 places but only changed my addresses on 3 of them because the other three were temporary for very short period of time. Also, what about if you visited other countries for a month or two?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Rowin,

1. You have to list all addresses.

Hi

1. If the OP had read the instructions, it states that if you don't have a surname, to put your given names in the surname space and leave the given names blank.

So on my paper work is Ontario and Toronto but I would like to land in St. John's in Newfoundland. Can I get my SIN there and can I apply for the health insurance there to because we will stay in this province?
Thank you

1. Yes, you can apply for your SIN in NFLD and you will be eligible for health insurance
2. You apply for the Medical Health Plan, but there is a 3 month wait for coverage (Month you arrive, plus 2 more months)

Landing & Leaving - Jeopardize our Status?

Hi

1. No, as long as you reside in Canada for 2 year out of every 5 year period after you "land"
2. Time outside Canada doesn't count towards citizenship.
3. For your child to receive Child benefits, you have to report your earnings outside Canada.

Hi

Hi Maggie,
Landing in Montreal in your case actually not 'landing' at all. It seems it's a transit. Here in Montreal airport nobody will ask you about your papers and other things. And you will land to board again in your Toronto bound plane. Do not get anxious. Hope for the best.

1. No, the International flight will clear at Montreal and the OP will process his/her landing there. The Montreal Toronto leg is a domestic flight and doesn't clear Immigration in Toronto.
2. You "land" at the first International Airport that you arrive in Canada at.

COPR/Visa Name Error - Will Be Corrected at POE?

PMM
PMM
Hi

Hello all

Although I sent my passport, they made an error in my name (switched first and last name) on the visa and CoPR.

Because of time constraint I already made my travel arrangements to land in mid April and do not have time to get it corrected. I have couple of questions which are as follows:

1. How critical is it to get the error corrected? CoPR and visa are just temporary documents.

2. When I land in mid April, can I send the correction forms along with the forms that the IO prepares so that they can get my correct name on the PR card?

Any reply is appreciated. Thank you

1. You have to get it corrected before you leave, it can't be corrected at the Port of Entry, the reversal of the name is a major problem.
2. The COPR is not a temporary document, you will need to keep it safe, as you will need it when it comes time to apply for your Old age pension.
3. Your PR card, would be issued in exactly the same name that is on your COPR.

Sponsoring a dependent child

Hi

Hi

I am hoping someone can provide information or perhaps has been in a similar situation.

Myself, my husband and our 2 daughters have PR in Canada. My husband has a child from a previous relationship who we declared on our application as a non accompanying dependent. At the time we were unable to have the child examined for medicals and advised CIC of this.
Since then the circumstances have changed and my husband is in the process of obtaining full custody.
My question is can we apply for sponsorship? If not what are our options? Does anybody have experience of a similar situation?

Thanks!

1. All though the child was declare s/he was not "examined" so the child can't be sponsored.
2. The only way is if the child submits a Humanitarian and compassionate application under S25.1 of the Regulations.
