Hello There,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

It may be best to consult a reputable and registered immigration consultant or an immigration lawyer familiar with immigration issues and family law for advice regarding your situation. To find a community legal clinic in your area, visit Services Near Me.

You may also want to write to a live chat operator on StepstoJustice.ca for legal information and referral options relevant to your situation. Their live chat feature can be found on the bottom right corner of every page.

Here is an excerpt from the Steps to Justice article, Can I travel with my child after I separate or divorce?:
It's hard to know what you may be asked when travelling to another country. Officials in Canada or in the other country you are going to can ask you for documents to prove you can travel with your child. These officials can decide whether to let you in or out of the country.
To avoid delays or being refused entry or exit at the border, it's safest to have a travel consent letter signed by the other parent.
Even if you have sole custody, you may still be required to show that you have permission of your partner or anyone else that has access to your child, to travel with your child.

You may also find helpful information on health coverage in the discussion forum thread, Pregnant and Newly Landed Immigrant - Finding a Doctor or other health care professional. Here is an excerpt:
You may be eligible for OHIP when you arrive, the Government of Ontario is currently waiving the 3-month waiting period for health coverage due to current events with COVID-19. You may find helpful information in the Settlement.Org article, What documents do I need to apply for a Health Card (OHIP)? and How do I apply for a Health Card (OHIP)?

According to Service Ontario’s COVID-19 notice:
Please note: we have extended validation to expired and expiring health cards. You do not need to renew at this time.

As of March 19, 2020 we are waiving the three-month waiting period for OHIP coverage. If you do not meet the criteria for OHIP coverage and are uninsured, the province will fund the cost of COVID-19 services.

Until further notice, “the Ministry [of Health] requests hospitals provide all medically necessary services to all persons who present at a hospital, regardless of whether the person presents a valid OHIP card, or does not have health insurance under OHIP or another provincial health insurance plan.”

There is more information about prenatal care options in Ontario in this article, I am pregnant and don't have OHIP. What health care can I get?.

Hello There,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

While your claim is being processed, it is being determined whether or not you fall under the category of “convention refugee” or “protected person.” Once you have a letter of determination, you will be eligible for programs designated to protected people. In the meantime, you still have options for financing a post-secondary education. Here is an excerpt from NewYouth.ca’s article Can I apply for OSAP as a refugee?:

If you are a refugee claimant, you should refer to the scholarships listed below and also visit the financial aid office of your institution. An advisor from this office can help direct you to different funding options, such as scholarships and bursaries within the institution which you may be eligible for.

You may also find helpful information in the Settlement.Org section for Financial Assistance for Post-Secondary Education.

Hi,

I am an Indian Passport Holder and having a valid Canadian visa. I have few queries.

I am coming to Canada in Feb, 2021. and I have come to know about G1/G2 driving license in Toronto. is that possible to get G1/G2 license on Visitor visa. As I had a word with one driving school in Toronto and they said you need a local address to avail G1 license and for G2 license you need Visitor record form. then you can stay in Toronto for more then a year in a single stay.

If it is possible, then I need assistance for the same and will ready to pay the service charges.
also wanted to know that how to get LMIA and its charges.

Hello There,

Thank you for sharing your situation and question with us.

As a visitor, you can drive in Ontario for 90 days with a licence from your country of origin.

According to Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation:
Visiting: more than 3 months
If you will be visiting from another country for more than 3 months, you will need an International Driver’s Permit (IDP) from your own country.
This is a special licence that allows motorists to drive internationally when accompanied by a valid driver’s licence from their country.
You need to have this permit with you when you arrive in Ontario. You cannot apply for one once you are here.

Also, according to the Settlement.Org article, Is the International Driver's Permit (IDP) valid in Canada?:
You must apply for an IDP outside of Canada. IDPs issued in Canada are not valid in Canada.

The IDP is primarily used by visitors to Ontario. If you plan on living in Ontario - that is, you will be a permanent resident living in Ontario - you need to get an Ontario driver's licence within 60 days of moving to Ontario.

If you plan on living in Ontario as a permanent resident, you may be able to exchange your licence for an Ontario licence if Ontario has a reciprocal agreement with your country of licensure.
